Lot 1559 FRENCH 1892 PRESENATION DA REVOLVER.

Cal. 8mm French Ordnance. NSN. Bbl. 4 1/2" 1899 dated. Bead front sight. Fixed rear sight. Early French 1892 revolver given as a prize for a shooting competition. 6-shot cyl. Blued finish with some strawed small parts. Checkered walnut grips with silver plaque on left panel that reads "PRIX de TIR OFFERT PARLE MINSTRE dela GUERRE". This translates to shooting prize from Minister of War. Lanyard ring present on bottom of grip frame. CONDITION: grips show a few dings, some handling marks & perhaps a bit of added finish. Strawed parts retain strong traces of their finish with scattered thinning & light oxidation. Balance of metal retains 95% original blue with some edge wear, handling marks & scattered light oxidation. Action is sluggish but functional when hand cycled. Very good bore with strong rifling.
