DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 8x27mmR. S# F24529. Bbl. 4 5/8". Mle 1892 double action revolver mfg. by St. Etienne in 1893. Top flat of the semi-faceted bbl. is marked "Mle 1892", with 2 French inspector proofs marked on the left quarter flat and the year of mfg. "S 1893" marked on the right quarter flat. Right side of the frame is marked "Mre d'Armes/ St. Etienne", followed by the S#. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the hammer, loading gate, trigger, and some frame screws, which exhibit a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, featuring a lanyard swivel and ring on the butt. Standard pinned blade front sight and integral frame U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, showing some areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, some scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots/patches of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting overall. Strawed parts show wear in contact areas that is fading to a mottled gray patina and showing scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics in SA and DA modes. Grips show smoothing, as well as some scattered superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (01-28594/MLW).
