Lot 1539 RARE & FINE IRAQI CONTRACT FABRIQUE NATIONALE HIGH

POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 245PY79416. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale under contract for Iraq in 1982. The left side of the slide is marked "FARBIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", with the Iraqi 3-star shield atop an eagle coat of arms marked on the top towards the rear sight. Frame and slide exhibit a black enamel type finish over a phosphate finish, with the trigger, extractor, and slide stop lever exhibiting a blue finish. 2-piece bbl. is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips, featuring a lanyard stud and ring on the left side. Slide features an external extractor with a fixed half-moon blade front sight and dovetailed square notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 13-rd. mag. with phosphate finished body and blued steel button type floorplate. Front of mag. body is stamped with an apparent Arabic character. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: page of notes from Charles Wagner detailing this variation. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original black enamel type finish, showing some light edge wear and some scattered superficial handling marks that show through to phosphate finish. Blued parts are very good, with light edge wear. Very bright bore, exhibiting streaks and scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show scattered superficial marks and small scratches, but otherwise remain sound. A rare and notably high condition example of a later Iraqi contract High Power pistol.
