Lot 1521 WAFFENFABRIK WEIHRAUCH DEUTSCHE SPORTSMODELL
SINGLE SHOT BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 20982. Bbl. 21 1/2". Deutsche Sportsmodell bolt action rifle mfg. by Weihrauch during the pre-war era. Left side of the bbl. is marked "CAL 6/22 LONG RIFLE", followed by an eagle proof, Crown/N commercial nitro proof, and the S#, with crown over "B", "U", and "G" proofs marked on the right side towards the breech. Left side of the receiver is marked "WAFFENFABRIK HERM. WEIHRAUCH/ ZELLA-MEHLIS THUR.", with "WEIHRAUCH" in a banner above a partially obliterated "HWZ" marked over the top of the chamber. Right side of receiver is marked with a partially legible "DEUTSCHE SPORTSMODELL" marking, followed by commercial proofs. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt body, which is polished in-the-white. Right rear side of receiver around the "DEUTSCHE SPORTSMODELL" marking and trigger guard have been reblued. Bolt cocking indicator and bolt stock housing appear to have been reblued, having turned to a plum coloration. 1-piece checkered wood stock with plain reblued steel buttplate. Stock appears to have been lightly sanded and refinished, with checkering appearing to have been freshened or added. Receiver has been drilled and tapped with 4 holes (1 partially over the "HWZ" marking), featuring 2 black anodized alloy scope bases fitted with a J. Unertl Hawk fixed 4x scope. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear fading to gray patina, some superficial handling marks, as well as some spots of light surface oxidation overall. Bolt has been cleaned at one time, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting and age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and streaks of light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows some scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. Scope retains a clear and sharp optic. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection.
