Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# B72014. Bbl. 23 1/2". Replacement tall blade front sgiht. Tangent Mauser style rear sight graduated to 2000m. Rear right of receiver has two added holes for aperture rear sight mounting. Matching numbers on receiver, bolt release, rear sight parts, trigger guard, floorplate & rear half of bolt. Other parts appear unnumbered or mismatched with Imperial Gew 98 rear band. Civilian modified Standard Modell Mauser that falls in the Japanese contract range. Bolt handle has been turned down & body has been cleaned of bluing. Receiver top has Mauser Banner. Left side of receiver has "STANDARD MODELL" marking & "BUGN" proofs. Reblue finish. Pistol grip walnut stock with cutout for altered bolt handle & bottom mounted sling swivels. No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: refinished stock has added varnish with a tight crack at handguard tip, some worn finish, a few small gouges, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal retains 85% commercial reblue with scattered oxidation, fading, edge wear & handling marks. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright near excellent bore. (25-3867/MJC).
