^Lot 1517 LATE WAR (BYF44) MAUSER K98K BOLT ACTION RIFLE.

Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 8654l. Bbl. 23 1/2". Standard K98k sights with missing hood. Matching numbers on bbl., phosphate bolt, shroud & cocking piece. Other visible parts are unnumbered. Trigger guard & floorplate both marked "byf". Receiver ring has "byf 44" markings denoting 1944 production by Mauser Oberndorf. Balance of metal has blued finish. Laminated stock set with faint "WaA135" Oberndorf acceptance stamp on right side of butt. No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock has a dark appearance with cracks on both side of wrist extending into sling cut, some finish wear, some band removal wear, handling marks & dings. Metal retains 70% original blue & phosphate with scattered fading to gray, edge wear & light oxidation. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore is mostly bright with scattered light pitting but strong rifling. (25-4265/MJC). CURIO. $800-1,200.
