Lot 1500 AUSTRIAN WWI STEYR-HAHN "1915" DATE MODEL 1912

SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER & STRIPPER CLIP. Cal. 9mm Steyr. S# 1889i. Bbl. 5 1/8". Steyr-Hahn Model 1912 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Steyr for the Austrian military in 1915. Left side of the slide is marked "STEYR 1915". Right side of frame is marked with an Austrian military "W-n (AUSTRIAN EAGLE) 15" acceptance proof above the trigger. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on some small parts, which are strawed. Bbl. is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Interior of left grip panel is inscribed "H/ F/ M/ H/ W/ M", with "HFM" inscribed on the frame beneath the right grip panel. Dovetailed blade front sight with integral V-notch rear sight on grasping grooves. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked period black leather holster and an original Steyr-Hahn stripper clip. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, showing areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, scattered spots of light to mild pitting, as well as some scattered scratches and superficial handling marks. Grip straps have mostly faded to a mottled gray patina. Trigger, hammer, and slide lever have been cleaned and are in-the-white. Extractor retains traces of straw finish. Bore is bright, exhibiting streaks of dark mild pitting in the grooves and scattered small spots of pitting on the lands, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show light smoothing and some scattered superficial handling marks, but are otherwise sound. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting general overall wear and scattered superficial handling marks, with a tear present on each side of the belt loop. (25-5374/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
