Lot 1499 AUSTRIAN WWI STEYR-HAHN "1917" DATE MODEL 1912

SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOSLTER & STRIPPER CLIP. Cal. 9mm Steyr. S# 4020v. Bbl. 5 1/8". Steyr-Hahn Model 1912 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Steyr for the Austrian military in 1917. Left side of the slide is marked with the S#, followed by "STEYR 1917". Right side of the frame is marked with an Austrian military "W-n (AUSTRIAN EAGLE COAT OF ARMS) 17" acceptance proof. Metal components exhibit what is possibly an arsenal reapplied blue finish overall, save for on some small parts, which are strawed. Bbl. is properly polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight with integral V-notch rear sight on grasping grooves. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: proper unmarked brown leather holster. This example is also accompanied by an original Steyr-Hahn stripper clip. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their apparent arsenal reapplied blue finish, showing areas of mild wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina, some superficial scratches and handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light pitting and surface oxidation. Right side of slide exhibits mild pitting at and around the ejection port area. Grip straps exhibit light thinning fading to gray patina. Trigger, slide safety lever, hammer, and extractor have been cleaned in-the-white, exhibiting some spots of light pitting and age related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting, as well as a few streaks of mild pitting in the grooves, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. Holster remains malleable, showing general overall wear and scattered handling marks, with scattered areas of age related cracking and crazing present overall. Closure flap exhibits losses to the stitching and leather edge trim. Ammunition pouch closure flap's stitching has mostly torn. (25-5392/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
