Lot 1493 GERMAN OCCUPATION RADOM VIS.35 SEMI-AUTOMATIC

PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# E8808. Bbl. 4 9/16". Vis.35 (German designation: "P.35(p)") semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Poland at the Radom arsenal and assembled at Steyr while under German occupation during WWII. The left side of the slide is marked "F.B.RADOM VIS Mod.35.Pat.Nr.15567", followed by an eagle firing proof, above a Radom Eagle/77 (repeated on both sides of frame) and a Steyr Eagle/WaA623 proof (repeated on left side of bbl. lug). Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl. which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood Ersatz grips (similar example shown on page 31 of "VIS Radom" by William J. York). Slide features a knurled matte rib, integral blade front sight, dovetailed V-notch rear sight, and decocking lever. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, grip safety (right), slide (interior), as well as the bbl. MAGS: 1 blued steel 8-rd. mag. marked with an Eagle/189 on the floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts to the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina (primarily on edges), some superficial handling marks, as well as some small scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Left side of slide exhibits some splotchy spots / small patches of finish loss. Grips straps exhibit wear and thinning fading to gray patina. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics to include the decocking lever. Grips are good, with the left panel exhibiting mild to moderate wear as well as a chip at the bottom of the panel at the screw slot. (25-6559/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
