Lot 1487 GERMAN WWI OCCUPATION PIEPER BERGMANN BAYARD MODEL

1910 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Bergmann. S# 16709. Bbl. 4". Model 1910 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Anciens Etablissements Pieper while under German occupation during World War I. Left side of the bbl. extension is marked "BREVETTE./ S.G.D.G.", followed by "ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS PIEPER./ HERSTAL-LIEGEW./ BERGMANN'S PATENT.". Frame, bbl., and bbl. extension are devoid of any Belgian commercial proofs, as is standard for German occupation examples. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts being strawed. Bolt assembly is properly polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Solid rib with integral blade front sight and V-notch rear sight on bolt spring retainer. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, and bbl. extension, as is standard for German occupation examples. MAGS: 1 6-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, showing some areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, some scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots/small patches of mild pitting overall. Left side of the bbl. exhibits mild to moderate pitting, as well as wear and striations from prior cleaning. Strawed parts have faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots/patches of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration. Extractor retains traces of nitre bluing. Bore exhibits consistent dark mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Left grip is good, showing light to mild smoothing, with scattered superficial handling marks and impressions. Right grip show mild to moderate smoothing, scattered superficial marks and impressions, as well as what appears to be numerous intentionally cut lines overall.
