Lot 1484 NICE FIRST VARIATION "EAGLE/L" MARKED MAUSER MODEL

HSC SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 711841. Bbl. 3 1/4". 1st Variation Model HSc semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser for German police issue, as detailed on page 223 of "Axis Pistols" by Jan C. Still. Left side of the slide is marked with the Mauser banner logo, followed by "Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndrof a.N./ Mod. HSc Kal. 7,65mm". Left side of the rear trigger guard web is marked with a German Eagle/L police proof. Right side of the frame, slide, and bbl. exhibit an Eagle/N commercial nitro proof. Metal components exhibit a high polish salt blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece flat checkered wood grips and features a slot for a lanyard stud on the heel/butt. Slide features a matte grooved sight channel, with an integral blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 8-rd. mag., with 7 transverse indicator holes. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original high polish salt blue finish, showing some light to mild edge wear, a few small scattered spots of light pitting, as well as a few small spots of wear showing through to gray patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting mild to moderate pitting along the lands, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show scattered marks and a few impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-4257/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
