Lot 1480 "EAGLE/C" POLICE MARKED WALTHER MODEL PPK

SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 199304k. Bbl. 3 1/4". Model PPK semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther for German police use, circa. 1939. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo, followed by markings stipulating Walther's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Left side of the frame is marked with a German Eagle/C police proof. Right side of the frame (on chamber), slide, and bbl. exhibit a Crown/N commercial nitro proof. Frame exhibits a factory blue finish (save for on the chamber area, which is polished in-the-white), with the slide exhibiting a professionally reapplied blue finish. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece Walther banner checkered mottled brown synthetic grip. Slide features a grooved matte rib, with a fixed blade front sight and fixed U-notch rear sight. Interior of slide appears to be numbered "307", which is lightly etched, parallel to the ejection port. MAGS: 1 reblued 8-rd. CONDITION: frame retains the majority of its original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild wear and thinning (primarily on edges), with some striations from prior cleaning present on the left side. Slide retains bountiful amounts of its reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some light wear along the front edges, some spots of light pitting beneath the bluing, as well as striations from prior cleaning. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild pitting. Grip shows some smoothing and some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, with a crack present on the left side stemming from the top of the grip, as well as a small crack on either side stemming from the grip screw slot.
