Lot 1476 BUNDESWEHR MARKED WALTHER MODEL HP

SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 4270. Bbl. 4 7/8". Model HP semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther and subsequently issued to the Austrian Bundeswehr after World War II. The left side of the slide is marked with a contemporarily engraved Walther banner logo, followed by markings denoting Walther's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Left side of the frame is marked with an Austrian Bundeswehr "BH" proof, with the right side exhibiting the S#, followed by a German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof. Right side of the bbl. and locking block also exhibit an Eagle/N commercial nitro proof, with the slide's proof being absent. Underside of trigger guard exhibits a spuriously applied "KARL WOLFF SS". Underside of the bbl. is E.C.C.S.A. import marked. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with World War II production grooved mottled brown synthetic grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. Heel mag. release is a checkered phosphate finished replacement. MAGS: 1 reblued likely Post-War 8-rd. mag. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster, modified likely during the period with a black leather hanger and steel belt hook. Interior of closure flap exhibits a small pouch, for an unidentified tool. Rear of holster is marked with a "jwa" mfg. code, with the date obscured behind the hanger. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light to mild wear and thinning, scattered superficial handling marks and spots of mild surface oxidation, and scattered spots of light pitting beneath the bluing overall. Bore is bright, as refinished, exhibiting consistent dark moderate pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, with the left grip exhibiting some chipping in the top left corner of the panel. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear and scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, as well as some spots of light age related cracking, but otherwise remaining sturdy and serviceable.
