Lot 1474 RUSSIAN CAPTURE GERMAN WWII WALTHER "AC/42" CODE

P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 2290b. Bbl. 4 7/8". Standard configuration P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther in 1942. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Walther's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "ac/ 42", as well as the S#, with Walther Eagle/359 acceptance proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Left side of the frame is stamped with an "X" above the S#, indicating Russian capture. Metal components exhibit a Russian reapplied blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved black Polymid 6 grips. Blade front sight with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. marked with a Mauser Eagle/135 proof on the spine. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their Russian reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light edge wear, with some spots/patches of light surface oxidation overall. Dark pitted bore, retaining fair rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (25-4668/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,100.
