Lot 1473 GERMAN WWII SPREEWERKE P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL.
Cal. 9x19mm. S# 7444v. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. during World War II by Spreewerke. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Spreewerke's "cyq" mfg. code, and the S#, with Spreewerke Eagle/88 proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved dark brown pressed resin grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. with 7 transverse indicator holes, stamped with an Eagle/WaA706 above "jvd" on the spine. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal salt blue finish, showing mild edge wear, some superficial handling marks, and (mostly) small scattered spots of finish loss overall. Front grip strap and underside of trigger guard exhibit a mottled gray patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, with the left panel exhibiting a small crack at the rear, stemming from the frame spur. (25-4415/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
