Lot 1471 FINE FRENCH OCCUPATION MAUSER "SVW/45" CODE P.38

SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 3421k. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. and assembled by Mauser while under French occupation in 1945. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's final mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "svw/ 45", as well as the S#, with a French 5-pointed star marked on the right side. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved gray phosphate finished sheet metal grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 phosphate finished steel 8-rd. mag., marked "jvd" on the left, with an Eagle/WaA706 proof and additional "jvd" marked on the spine. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of very light edge wear, some small superficial handling marks, as well as a few small spots of light pitting on the bbl. and trigger guard bow. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show light finish wear and some superficial handling marks, but otherwise present nicely. A fine example of a French occupation Mauser P.38. (25-6693/MLW). CURIO. $1,750-2,500.
