Lot 1463 DWM MODEL 1906 NAVY LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL,

WITH SPURIOUS MARKINGS. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 8577a. Bbl. 5 7/8". Model 1906 Navy Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM. The top of the bbl. extension is engraved with a spurious Great Seal of the United States, with a spurious "A.E. STOEGER INC/ NEW YORK" engraved on the right. Toggle is marked with the intertwined DWM monogram, with an Imperial German naval crown proof marked on the left side of the breechblock. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting a reheated straw finish. Frame is mounted with replacement 2-piece checkered wood grips, and features a grip safety. Muzzle crown has been ground down, with the muzzle / front sight band appearing to have been recut. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, trigger, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, toggles, as well as the grips. Takedown lever, grip safety, and grips have been renumbered to match, with remaining parts being unnumbered. MAGS: 1 reblued 8-rd., with black synthetic concentric circle bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, scattered superficial handling marks, and spots/areas of light to mild pitting beneath the bluing overall. Front grip strap exhibits several notable dings that show through to silvering. Dark bore, exhibiting heavy pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Left grip shows some chipping around the mag. release button, and a chip present in the top right corner of the panel, beside the safety lever. (25-1422/MLW). CURIO. $500-1,000.
