Lot 1462 ASSEMBLED P.08 POLICE LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL.

Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 3964n. Bbl. 3 15/16". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol frame mfg. by DWM (apparent by interior frame milling, milling of recoil lug, and S#) with a possibly period replacement Mauser upper assembly. Bbl. extension is marked with the 4-digit year of mfg. "1939" over the chamber, with no proofs on the right and no S# on the left or lug. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "42" mfg. code. Extractor is double stamped with "GELADEN". Front grip strap of frame exhibits a police unit marking "S.E.I.399." (Protection Police Erfurt, 1st Garrison, Weapon 399), above 2 "X"d out police unit markings appearing to read "S.S.2.II.2.t.11." (unidentified apparent Schneidelmuhl District police unit marking) and "S.E.I.F.11." (unidentified apparent Erfurt District police unit marking). Frame and sideplate exhibit a rust blue finish, with the takedown lever, trigger, and safety lever exhibiting a straw finish. Bbl., bbl. extension, and toggle train exhibit a salt blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. Frame assembly is all matching and includes the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, as well as the hold-open latch. Upper assembly is unnumbered and unproofed. Grips are unnumbered. MAGS: 1 non-matching (S#: 6394f) blued "fxo" marked 8-rd. with aluminum plug. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finishes, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray and brown patinas, some superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Left side of frame exhibits a patch of mild pitting towards the safety lever. Strawed parts have mostly faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and streaks of light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Rear toggle pin is poorly fit to the bbl. extension, having an extremely tight fit that does not effect serviceability. Grips show moderate wear and smoothing, exhibiting some scattered marks and impressions, with the left panel exhibiting a chip at the usual area, at and to the right of the safety lever.
