Lot 1434 IMPERIAL GERMAN WWI DWM "1915" DATE LP.08 LUGER
SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 2797. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM for the Imperial German military in 1915. Top of the bbl. extension is marked "1915", with faint DWM arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with the intertwined DWM monogram. Rear of frame is marked "C.S.A." Metal components exhibit a nicely reapplied blue finish overall, with strawed parts exhibiting a reheated straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Fine tune blade front sight, with adj. tangent V-notch rear sight. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever, blade front sight, rear sight assembly (cursor unnumbered), bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. Safety bar, hold-open latch, and grips have been renumbered to match. MAGS: 1 Swiss 8-rd. mag., with pressed resin bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light pitting beneath the bluing overall, as well as softening and/or losses to the original factory markings. Strawed parts are very good overall. Bore is bright, as refinished, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-1428/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
