Cal. 45 ACP. S# 203. The Colt Model 1905 Pistol was the first Colt pistol chambered in the new 45 Automatic Colt Pistol cartridge; this pistol was mfg. in 1906. The 45 ACP was an answer to the U.S. Army's Trail conclusion desiring a .45 cal. cartridge to replace the underpowered 38 Colt revolver cartridges used during the Phillipine-American War of 1899-1902. The Colt Model 1905 is the first pistol in a series of pistols that eventually became the US. M1911 pistol. This pistol comes the standard features of a 5" barrel, high polish blued finish & fully checkered walnut stocks. MAGS: 1 - 7 rd.; magazine has fair worn blue with scratches & finish wear streaks. CONDITION: slide has 30% original finish with large areas worn to gray with scratches & spots of patina. Frame has over 60% original finish with handling wear to gray on front & back strap, series of marks on both sides around slide lock, along with scattered light scratches & marks. Good grips with large crack in back of right panel, & scattered sm. gouges. Good rifling with light frosting in grooves. (25-5416/MD). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
