^Lot 1382 USMC RANGE POST WWI COLT 1911 U.S. ARMY SEMI AUTO

PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 544495. Mfg. 1918. This pistol is within the S# range 543000-556000, which is linked to a 3,000 pistol shipment to the USMC Storehouse in Philadelphia, PA Dec. 14, 1918. Based on J.C. Harrison's "U.S. PISTOLS & REVOLVERS 1909-1945", this pistol appears to have most original parts for replacement checkered walnut grips. While this pistol has a 5" Colt Type 4 barrel instead of Colt Type 5, could have been mixed due to using up parts after the Armistice was signed. Left side of frame has "GDE" import mark. MAGS: NONE. CONDITION: balance of metal is gray/brown patina with corrosion & light pitting throughout. Very good replacement grip finish. Pitted & heavily worn rifling is barely distinguishable. (25-4361/MD).
