Lot 1378 REMARKABLE, FEB. 1918 COLT 1911 U.S. ARMY SEMI

AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 240347. This pistol was 1 of 1,950 gun shipped Feb. 19, 1918 to the Springfield Armory. These shows a stunning Colt Brushed Blue finish & original blued finish on Colt 5" barrel. All small parts & features of this pistol are correct for the time period of 1918 within S# range 108,601-290,000 as listed in "U.S. Pistols & Revolvers 1909-1945" by J.C.Harrison. MAGS: 1 correct two tone 7 rd. mag. Magainze has very good appearance with light patina spots throughout. CONDITION: over 90% original brushed blue finish with light finish loss streaks on contact portions of slide & 1 area of finish loss on top of slide. Frame & slide exhibition light scratches from improper slide stop installation & series of small marks below slide lock on left side frame. Mainspring housing handling area shows finish loss to gray along with sm. pinprick finish loss on grip safety. Portions of frame where grips make contact shows leftover storage grease. Grips have very good appearance with some flattened diamonds with fingers & palm would rest. Barrel has over 90% original blue with light cycling wear. Strong rifling in shiny bore; very light evidence of powder residue & no primer ring appears visible. (25-4641/MD). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
