Lot 1377 WINCHESTER MODEL 12 PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN IN TRENCH

CONFIGURATION. Cal. 12 GA, 2 3/4". S# 1000166. Bbl. 20 3/4". Mfg. in 1946. Left side of the replacement bbl. exhibits standard factory markings denoting the model and cal. designations above a "CYL." choke marking, with circle "P" and standard "WP" proof on top towards breech. Right side of the receiver exhibits a spurious "U.S." and flaming ordnance bomb marking. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with the receiver extension having been reblued at one time. Grooved wood pump and pistol grip stock with contemporary black checkered plastic Winchester buttplate. Wood furniture has been sanded and revarnished. Left side of the buttstock exhibits a spurious boxed "G.H.D." cartouche above "U.S.", with an additional "U.S." stamped on the right. Aftermarket ventilated heat shield with integral bayonet lug and brass bead front sight. Bbl. has been renumbered to match the receiver. CONDITION: receiver and mag. tube assembly retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, showing edge wear, scattered superficial handling marks, and some light surface oxidation, with an area of touch up blue present at and around the bottom right corner of the ejection port. Replacement trigger guard assembly retains good amounts of its original blue, showing wear and thinning with scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Bbl. retains virtually all of its blue finish, with the reblued receiver extension having turned a plum color. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild pitting. Action is worn, with the firing pin tripping prior to the bolt locking up and is not safe to fire without repair. Wood furniture shows scattered marks from handling and storage. Buttstock is shortened to LOP of 12 7/8" and exhibits chipping along the edges of the poorly fit buttplate, with a large repair present on the right side of the wrist at the receiver. (25-1415/MLW).
