Lot 1375 ITHACA WWII ERA MODEL 37 RARE 16 GA. RIOT STYLE

PUMP SHOTGUN. Cal. 16 ga. S# 62778. Bbl. 20" with brass front bead is numbered to the receiver. Left side of barrel has the standard two line marking lacking a choke designation, making original bbl. length hard to determine. A small "P" proof mark is found on the left side just forward of the receiver. Left side of receiver has a flaming bomb followed by inspector's initials "RLB" referring to Colonel Roy. L. Bowlin, head of the Rochester Ordnance Department. This gun, as typical, has civilian features including receiver engraving as well as checkered stock and forearm. The generally accepted serial number range for the Ithaca riot guns falls between 48,000 and 51,000 and they were generally 12 gauge. Model 37s were also used in training gun configuration with longer barrels. CONDITION: over 80% original blue showing scattered handling marks & spots of corrosion. The wood finish retains good checkering showing scattered scratches & marks. The stock has a line of apparent Accraglass repair or reinforcement around the receiver. Sound action.
