Lot 1374 STEVENS MODEL 520-30 U.S. MILITARY TRENCH SHOTGUN.
SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 GA, 2 3/4". S# 68229. Bbl. 20". Model 520-30 Trench pump action shotgun mfg. by Stevens/Savage for the U.S. military during WWII. The left side of the bbl. is marked with the cal. designation, with a "P" above a flaming ordnance bomb proof, followed by Steven/Savage's mfg. information on the right. Left side of the receiver is marked with a "P" over a flaming ordnance bomb proof, followed by "MOD.520-30" and "U.S". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Plain wood pump and pistol grip buttstock with grooved black synthetic buttplate. Toeline of stock and underside of heat shield are fitted with sling swivels. Buttstock has been sanded and refinished at one time. Bbl. is fitted with an original 6-shot ventilated handguard, featuring a bayonet lug and brass bead front sight. CONDITION: frame and bbl. retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, with scattered superficial handling marks, scratches, and spots of light surface oxidation present overall. Handguard retains the majority of its original finish, showing light to mild edge wear, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light oxidation. Left side of handguard exhibits a small patch of mild pitting. Bayonet lug exhibits a proper plum appearance. Very bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots and patches of light pitting. Proper manual mechanics. Pump is good, showing scattered handling marks and minor impressions. Stock is poorly fit around the tangs and buttplate, showing scattered marks and impressions, as well a chip on the lower left side of the pistol grip. Wrist shows several cracks at and around the receiver tangs, with 2 wood plug repairs present on the right and a single repair present on the left. (25-5339/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
