Lot 1361 US REMINGTON WWII MODEL 1903 BOLT-ACTION MILITARY

RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3237621. Bbl. 24". Barrel marked behind front sight "RA / flaming bomb / 9-42". Rifles were produced by Remington using machinery supplied by Rock Island Arsenal & show the beginnings of the machining shortcuts/redesign which led to the Model 1903A3 rifle. Ladder rear sight w/ volley notch graduated to 2,850 yards. Dished elevation knob. Flat windage knob. Rear sight base w/o lightening cuts. Blade front sight. Bolt, safety & cutoff marked "R". Bolt is electro-penciled to match rifle. Receiver tang is drilled completely through. Receiver has Hatcher hole. Fine checkered & milled buttplate. Milled butt swivel, trigger guard assembly & upper handguard. Lower band w/ swivel & stacking swivel are stamped. Walnut stock set. Late production pistol grip stock. The buttstock is marked "K" in the cutoff recess & has boxed "P" proof at end of grip. Also w/ three small circular marks. Buttstock has been numbered to match on the right side w/ last four digits. Handguard coloration does not match buttstock. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ wear, scratches & handling marks throughout. Small 1" fine crack behind receiver tang. Handguard has had wood removed on both sides of sighting groove & has notably lighter coloration. Metal retains 80% of its arsenal rework parkerized finish. Near excellent shiny bore.
