Lot 1357 US WW2 REMINGTON MODEL 1903A4 BOLT ACTION SNIPER

RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3414597. Bbl. 26 1/2" including flash suppressor. Marked behind front sight area "RA / flaming bomb/ 12-43". Barrel has been fitted at the muzzle with a slotted flash suppressor which measures app. 3" long. Suppressor is not marked. No front sight appears to have been fitted to this rifle. The receiver ring has the correct offset markings and has the bevel underneath the bolt handle. Rifle has the correct Redfield one piece base with the bevel at the rear. A 7/8" steel tube Lyman Alaskan scope is mounted in vertically split steel rings. The scope has the standard Lyman markings on the left side along with "ALASKAN 25306" enhanced in white. The ocular bell is marked "2 1/2" POWER". Adjustment bases are marked "ALL-WEATHER" Fine cross hair reticle. Correct Remington marked bolt assembly except for the Smith Corona scalloped shroud. All stamped furniture including the fine checkered trap buttplate and small bow trigger guard. Stacking swivel is not present. Walnut stock set. Full pistol grip buttstock has partly obscured markings due to an arsenal refinish. Visible are a boxed "RIA/EB" and "FJA",with partly visible assembly marks. Bolt handle relief cut in stock is correctly done. CONDITION: stock set has light wear and scattered handling marks. Metal is a mix of original and arsenal rework finishes with thinning and wear. Receiver,bolt assembly and scope base have notably better finish. Very good shiny 2 groove bore. (25-2781/RW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
