Early production M1 Garand originally completed in Mid-1940 as a gas trap model, later overhauled as a M1D gas port rifle. T105E1 aperture rear sight. Front sight w/ protective ears. T-37 prong type flash suppressor. Cross slot gas cylinder lock screw. Operating rod w/ safety cut marked "SA". Bolt marked "SA". Trigger housing marked "WRA". Safety & hammer are "SA". Stamped trigger guard. Rifle is fitted w/ correct original M84 telescopic sight. Scope base has the correct four point staking on the left side. Scope mount appears original. Blued steel scope. Plate on right side of scope marked "TELESCOPE / M84 / SERIAL NO 10859". Hinged covers are present over turrets. Straight post w/ fine crosshair reticle. Sliding sunshade & correct rubber eye-cup. Unmarked replacement hardwood stock set. Brown leather lace-on cheekpiece marked faintly on the right side "MRT / 52". Cheekpiece has brown painted horizontal line on left side. Well-worn Model 1907 brown leather sling w/ steel hooks. CONDITION: stock set has light wear & scattered handling marks. Notable gouge on right side of buttstock below receiver ring. Cheek pad has wear & scuffing w/ paint overrun on right side. Pad is fastened to stock w/ silver colored Philip's screw. Stitching remains tight. Metal parts retain 90% of a dark arsenal rework parkerized finish w/ light wear. Very good shiny bore. Scope optics appear clear & serviceable except for several dark specks. (25-5329/RW).
