RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3860212. Bbl. 24". Marked on the right side "S-A-2-49". Throat & muzzle gauge: 1.0. Rifle receiver was produced in the spring of 1945. The blued steel scope base on the left side is unnumbered. The mounting screws are staked on the inside w/ numerous punch marks, both on the ends of the screw & the sides of the screw holes. The scope bracket of blued steel has the iconic Griffin & Howe locking levers and is marked "GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK / PAT. 1856,549 MAY 3,1932". Is also marked on the right side "3370576". Fitted w/ a M84 telescopic sight. The scope has a nomenclature plate on the right side labeled "TELESCOPE / M84 / SERIAL NO. 7244". Parkerized tube & sliding sun shield. Blued steel adjustment covers. Rubber eyepiece is present. Scope has a non-tapered post w/ crosshair. The bbl. & buttstock appear to be replacements as the buttstock is marked on the left side w/ the Defense acceptance eagle. The stock also carries the encircled "P" proof under grip. Buttstock fitted w/ tan leather "MRT / 1 52". Lace-on cheek piece. Green web sling. Handguards are walnut. T105E1 aperture rear sight. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. All major parts markings are "SA". CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ moderate wear & handling marks throughout. Metal retains 70% of its arsenal rework type finish. Cheek pad has light wear & scuffing w/ solid stitching. Scope retains a large degree of its Parkerized finish w/ light wear & small scratches. Optics are serviceable, but the objective lens has numerous spots visible on the inside. Scope bracket has small dents & hand fitting at the rear of the dovetail. Bracket does not seat fully rearward. Bore shows moderate wear w/ frosted grooves & scattered fine pitting. (25-2256/RW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
