Lot 1283 ALWAYS DESIRABLE PRE-BAN COLT SP1 SEMI-AUTOMATIC

CARBINE. Cal. 223 Rem. S# SP105680. Bbl. 16". Pre-Ban Colt SP1 semi-automatic carbine mfg. by Colt circa. 1979, as noted on page 87 of "A Collectors Guide to the Colt AR-15 SP1 Sporter Rifle" by Perry Cox and Bruce Kaufman. The left side of the receiver exhibits typical factory markings consisting of the encircled Rampant Colt atop a globe logo, followed by "COLT/ AR-15" above "CAL. .223/ MODEL SP1" and the S#, with Colt's mfg. information marked towards the selector lever. Right side of carry lever inlet is marked "C" and "M". Underside of bbl. is marked "C MP B". Aluminum receiver, upper, and buffer tube exhibit a dull gray finish, with the charging handle exhibiting a black anodized finish. Bbl., birdcage flash hider, and front sight / gas block assembly (with integral bayonet lug) exhibit a parkerized / phosphate finish. 2-piece black synthetic A2 carbine pattern handguard, with Lone Star Ordnance checkered black synthetic pistol grip, and black nylon coated adj. aluminum buttstock. Right side of buttstock is fitted with a Tactical Tailor single cell mag. pouch. Aftermarket bolt assembly, with "TC" marked carrier. Unmarked carbine buffer. Correct short tail disconnector. Mag. is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory finishes, exhibiting some superficial handling marks overall. Right side of receiver exhibits some silvering around the front pin slot. Mirror chrome lined bore, exhibiting some streaks of what appears to be hardened grease or firing residue, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Upper assembly is poorly fit, with notable wobble and gab when not pressed upwards, likely indicating that it was originally an M16 upper. Polymer furniture and nylon coated stock show some light superficial handling marks, but otherwise remains sound. (25-4725/MLW). MODERN. $800-1,200.
