Lot 1242 PRE-BAN SUPER CLEAN BELGIUM FN FNC556 WITH FOLDING
STOCK. Cal. 223 Rem. S# FN023336. Bbl. 19" over brake. One of the cleanest FNC Sporter Rifles this cataloger has yet to encounter. It is still in the factory styrofoam box insert, wearing trigger hang tag. Original Belgium manufactured Fabrique Nationale rifle. The FNC, a scaled down & refined variant of the famous FN FAL was imported into the United States until 1987 and remains a rare & desirable rifle to this day. It utilizes a 2 position gas system w/ an integral grenade launcher front sight which functions as a gas shutoff valve when deployed. The gas system is adjusted to send more pressure rearward if the gun should become fouled by rotating the gas tube 90 degrees clockwise. This particular piece was imported by Gun South Inc, from Trussville, AL., also marked Steyr, Seacaucus, NJ. The left side safety / selector is marked "S" (safe) / "1" (semi). Matte black finish on all exterior surfaces. Protected post front sight w/ dual aperture rear sight. Right side folding shoulder stock. Ingenious spring loaded dust cover on right side remains under constant pressure, momentarily lifting during the firing cycle, to immediately be closed again upon firing. Utilizes standard AR-15 magazines. Left side of upper receiver marked w/ serial number & "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL / MADE IN BELGIUM / STEYR SEACAUCUS, NJ / GUN SOUTH, INC. TRUSSVILLE, AL. / CAL. 223 REM SPORTER". MAGS: 1 steel black 30 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Factory packaging, & owners manual. CONDITION: exterior finish remains complete & consistent w/ very little sign of prior use, including extremely gentle thinning in areas of mechanical intervention, which happens almost immediately. Black plastic forend, pistol grip & shoulder stock are in extremely nice condition w/ very little sign of prior use. Bore is bright w/ visible rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: Lifelong Collection of Terrence McCarty. (24-511/JZ). MODERN. $3,000-5,000.
