AW BOLT ACTION RIFLE WITH SCHMIDT & BENDER SCOPE. Cal. 308 Win. S# 4299. Bbl. 25". Model AW (Arctic Warfare) bolt action rifle mfg. in England by Accuracy International in 1997. The AW series was an improved variation of the iconic L96A1, with the "AW" name being derived from design features that were implemented to allow for use in extremely cold environments. The left side of the receiver is marked "ACCURACY INTERNATIONAL NORTH AMERICA", with "97 AW 4299" marked on the right. Right side of the receiver and bbl. exhibit British commercial proofs. Metal components exhibit a black enamel type finish overall, with the body exhibiting a blue finish. Distinctive L96 pattern thumbhole stock, with adj. comb and grid pattern Accuracy International black rubber recoil pad. Underside of forearm features a bipod rail. 8 3/8" receiver picatinny rail is fitted with a Schmidt & Bender 3-12x50mm MRAD scope with Police FPP reticle. All serialized parts are matching and include the receiver and bolt assembly. Bbl. is numbered "4711". MAGS: 1 10-rd. CONDITION: receiver and bbl. retain the vast majority of their original factory black enamel finish, exhibiting some superficial handling marks and a few spots of light edge wear. Bolt assembly shows mild wear and thinning, but otherwise presents nicely. Brilliant mirror chrome lined bore retains well defined rifling throughout. Stock shows some minor superficial marks from handling and storage. Scope retains a clear and sharp optic. A fine example of an iconic and highly desirable rifle. (25-3620/MLW). MODERN. $3,500-5,500.
