Lot 29 1921 Holland & Holland Royal Ejector Double Rifle .270

This remarkable double rifle began its life in the famed Holland & Holland factory in 1921, where it was originally built and sold to a prominent member of the Indian government. It saw extensive use in the field throughout his lifetime, bearing the honest wear of decades of service.

Following the original owner’s passing, the rifle was acquired and returned to Holland & Holland, where it underwent a comprehensive factory rebuild. During this restoration, the rifle was rechambered in .270 Winchester and carefully regulated to ensure precise convergence and accuracy between both barrels. It was then entrusted to one of the foremost experts in the United States specializing in the restoration of high-end double rifles. The metal finishes were refinished to match the original factory coatings, and the stock furniture was replaced with exceptional Grade 8 English walnut, restoring the rifle to its original elegance.

Presented today in the popular and highly effective .270 Winchester caliber, this rifle is perfectly suited for North American big game, offering excellent performance with manageable recoil. While it retains the classic appearance of its 1921 delivery, it is thoughtfully configured for the modern shooter, featuring an ejector system that expels only the fired case and a quick flip-up leaf rear sight calibrated for longer-range shots and bullet trajectory.

This is a true masterpiece of British gunmaking—equally at home in the field or displayed as a centerpiece in a fine sporting collection—built to serve not only its next owner, but generations to come.
