US military Mauser pattern bolt action rifle manufactured circa 1918 for use in WWI by the Eddystone division of Remington. Often referred to as "Enfield", due to British Enfield type rifling. Features 26" barrel, protected blade front sight. fully adjustable rear peep sight (marked "Parker Hale", "PH5B" & "PATT 14"), manual safety, 6 round magazine, wood handguard & stock with grasping grooves, trap door in butt, sling swivels, stacking swivel. Bore is good condition with frosting. Retains 90% re-blued finish, brownish tint to color, with scrapes and scratches. Electric Pencil marked on left saide of receiver, appears to be "MAGERKO". Wood has been sanded, satin tung oil type finish applied, shows loss of sharp edges in forend grooves, some dents & dings. Metal fit to wood is very good. Some markings in metal are slightly eroded. Retains US Army Ordnance "bomb" marks. Cartouches on stock include "RFJA" in box, crossed cannons. Barrel dated "9-18". Includes vintage two hook one inch leather sling.
