^Lot 1270 US M1872 Hagner Cartridge Box

Rare early Indian War Era M1872 US Army Cavalry No. 2 Hagner Leather Cartridge box. Early 1870's Holds 24 .50-70 rounds. Embossed on the cover with US in oval, and having the swell in the side for a combination tool. Marked on the top section of box, “No.2,” and " A.R.S.” (the later for A.R. Smith, inspector) on the closure strap. Makings are feint from use. Has the Original Model 1879 Combination Tool for the 45-70 Trapdoor. Stamped "US Mod 1879". Complete with all stitching intact.
