Lot 1066 DWM / CAI Argentino 1909 7.65x53mm #A9838
This is a 1909 pattern large-ring Mauser bolt-action rifle, manufactured by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitions (DWM), Berlin, on contract for Argentina, before import by CAI. This rifle features a full length stock and 21.9” barrel. The receiver bears the Argentine crest, with the manufacturer’s mark, and “Mauser Modelo Argentino 1909.” The bolt bears a matching SN and ‘Phrygian Cap’ (Cap) markings on the handle and safety shroud. Cap markings can also be found on the bolt release, floor plate, and guard. An additional DWM marking can be found forward of the SN. A Naval Anchor is stamped on the front of the tangent rear sight. The finish is approximately 95%, showing worn finish around the base of the front sight cap, bayonet lug and barrel band. There is light scuffing at the top of the but plat and respective screw and around the barrel band. There is light surface rust under the extractor. The stock bears matching numbers and is constructed from darkened walnut. It bears numerous small depressions and scratches with some surface hairline cracking, but no cracks that run all the way through the wood. There is a small section of wood displaced immediately behind the receiver tang, but does not appear to have ever been fully detached from the stock. Bore is excellent with very clear, crisp and clean rifling.
