Lot 1055 MAS / CAI 1936-51 7.5mm French #F29590

This is an April 1954 manufactured Type 2 French MAS Mle 1936-51 bolt-action rifle featuring the rifle grenade mounting system and C/B stamped leaf sight. The rifle features a Type 2 Factory rear sight and front sight befitting the adjustable grenade sight mounting band. The receiver ring is stamped EBG. The barrel is 24” chambered in 7.5 French. The receiver also bears a discreet import mark that reads “CAI ST ALB VT 75 FRANCE” from CAI of St Albans, VT. The floorplate does non-matching, but fits properly and functions as designed. The bolt is matching to the receiver and is stamped DM with the “thumb grooves” designed for easy disassembly. The internal cruciform bayonet does not bear a serial number, but does bear the BAK stamp of the Bearn Armement Koni, typical to post war made rifles. The metal is preserved in a manner consistent with cosmoline storage. The S/N is matching to the stock with an arsenal stamp, bearing the month and year of manufacture Avril (April) 1954. The stock is original Beechwood and complete with butt plate and sling loop. The wood does bear small dings and scratches, typical to long term storage and import. There is a 1” hairline crack in the forend, directly forward of the receiver on the bottom left side. Bore is in excellent/bright condition. Retains 99% of finish with only a slight rubbing of the finish on the back right of the receiver, light rubbing on the front face of the leaf sight, and light scuffing on the butt plate. Wood is in very good condition. Numbers on receiver, stock and bolt are matching. Markings are crisp.
