^Lot 1048 Oviedo 1893 'Spanish Mauser' 8mm #E5521

This sporterized small ring 1893 Spanish Mauser features a 21.5” barrel chambered in 7x57. The stock is a modified military stock, cut back behind the rear barrel band with many dents and impressions left by years of use. The receiver tang and bottom metal do sit proud of the stock. The barrel matches the receiver S/N and has some light pitting beneath the finish and some small spots have worn off without damaging the barrel. The receiver also has some tarnished areas of finish to include the bolt release. Rear sight is open-sighted ladder style and the sight notch has been filed to open the view. The bottom metal features heavy pitting and the receiver screws and sling swivel screws all show marring within the slots. The sides of the butt plate have been sanded down and lacquered with the stock. The bottom face of the butt-plate shows oxidation and pitting. Bore is excellent. Retains approximately 90% of its arsenal finish showing light wear, some scattered rust and old pitting under the finish along the stock line. Stock is in serviceable condition with numerous blemishes and showing water damage & shrinking. Makings are crisp and clear.
