Lot 1010 Sioux 'Gun Barrel' Hide Scraper.

Made from a octagonal rifle barrel, 8 1/4" length. The scraper's end widened into a fan with grooves. Native American hide scrapers/fleshers were often made from re-purposed gun barrels in the 1700-1900's, a very necessary tool for turning hides into soft clothing. 19th century, finish is a brown patina. It is the same same style and configuration of known Sioux examples.
