^Lot 1003 French M1866 Chassepot Sword Bayonet

3rd Republic. 22 3/4" Yataghan style blade, wide fuller, the spine of the bayonet is marked St. Étienne 1879, indicating original manufacture at the arsenal in St. Étienne, in 1879. It is in overall good condition showing age & wear, mostly bright blade with some areas of light staining and a couple of nicks in the edge. The brass handle has a aged mustard patina. Serial number matched on crossguard and scabbard. French proofs, scabbard is dent free with scattered dark patina.
