Lot 832 Remington No. 1 .43 Spanish

This rifle is unmarked except for the "P" on the lower left barrel and "(?)31" on the upper left tang under the butt stock and "137" on the lower tang. 35" barrel with blade front and No.1 adjustable rear sight, (Missing the slider),no bayonet lug. 3 barrel bands, sling swivels, crescent steel butt plate, cleaning rod. Action works well, the bore is dark/rough with worn rifling, the metal finish is in the white, there is some deep pitting along the barrel where it meets the forearm and the wood is sound with two slivers of wood gone on the top lower forearm forward of the action. "1895" carved in the lower left butt stock. Many of these Remington contract rifles that went to Spain and South American countries were scrubbed of markings when sold as surplus. Do not attempt to fire this rifle without bore cast and check by competent gunsmith.
