Lot 811 Eddystone / CAI 1917 .30-06 #990200
"Lend Lease" (to British Commonwealth, probably during WWII). Imported by CAI, St Albans VT. US military Mauser pattern bolt action rifle manufactured circa 1918 for use in WWI by the Eddystone division of Remington. Often referred to as "Enfield", due to British Enfield type rifling. Features 26" barrel, protected blade front sight. folding ladder type rear peep sight, manual safety, 6 round magazine, wood handguard & stock with grasping grooves, trap door in butt, sling swivels, stacking swivel. Bore is dark, lightly pitted throughout, shows strong rifling. Retains 60% blued finish with much bare metal, some cleaned patina, thinning wear handled. Wood shows dents & dings, red paint behind front band with stenciled "30-06" in black paint. Aiming guide diagram sticker on left side near receiver. Metal fit to wood is very good. Retains US Army Ordnance "bomb" marks. Barrel dated "9-18". Broad Arrow inside letter "C" stamped on right side of butt.
