Lot 500 Remington Model 1917 .30-06 #159293

U.S. Infantry rifle used in both Word Wars. Modified Mauser turn-bolt action. 26" barrel , with rear ladder aperture sight, front sight blade, both with sight protectors. Internal clip-fed 5 rd magazine, 'dog leg' bolt handle, hinged floorplate. Thumb safety on right receiver. "U.S. Model of 1917 Remington" and serial number marked on chamber. Barrel date 2-18, with flaming bomb and "R".(Remington) Front sight also stamped "R". Bolt handle stamped "R" with flaming Ordnance bomb. "P" proof cartouche on the grip & "5" stamped behind the triggerguard. Flaming bomb, two Eagle Heads and "BM" in crowned circle stamped on left receiver rail.("BM" indicates that the firearm was manufactured by the Remington-manufactured Eddystone Arsenal under the Remington contract. There also is a very small stamp on the rail that appears to be words but it is very feint, unreadable. Bore is excellent/bright. Action is smooth/tight. Blued metal finish is about 85%. with edge wear, friction loss to the bolt, and some handling wear. Wood stock, and hand guards are very good with the usual dings, scratches. Nothing serious. A nice conditioned, parts matches Model 1917. Correct Original WW1 US Military Kerr NoBuckl M17 Rifle Sling attached.
