Lot 417 Steyr-Daimler-Puch / IO Inc K98k "BNZ 4" 8mm

#6906C Rare "bnz 4" Austrian Steyr-Daimler-Push (Steyr) K98k late war WW2 military issued Infantry rifle. 24" barrel with inverted V front and tangent rear sights. Receiver ring stamped "bnz. 4", stamped on the receiver "bnz 4". The single digit "4" is significant to show this was late 1944 production. This explains why the stock lacks waffenamts. Rifles produced hastily at the end of the war often times left the factory with mismatched parts. Eagle/swastika proof on left barrel with serial number, and "Mod. 98" on left receiver rail. Feint correct waffenamt Eagle/77 on right receiver ring. Late war stamped front barrel band and welded, stamped lower band. Milled floorplate, and triggerguard. Waffenamts Eagle/77, (Radom plant in occupied Poland under Steyr supervision, stamped on the triggerguard). Waffenamt WaW11 stamped on floorplate. Serial number mismatched on all parts including the bolt, barrel bands, floorplate, triggerguard , rear sight base and stock. Cleaning rod present. The rifle appears to have been refinished at some point with metal parts having a parkerized finish with the exception of the sight hood & bolt, plum colored extractor & bolt release. Bore is dark/rough, laminated stock/handguard are very sound with many small dings/dents . Refinish is about 90% with handling/edge wear. Action is crisp/tight. Repro K98 sling attached.
NRA condition-Fair to Good. C&R Firearm.
