'FN49' Rifle. Semi-Automatic. Venezuelan Military issue. Belgium made by Fabrique Nationale. First FN 49 with vented muzzle break. Gas operated short-stroke piston, tilting bolt. 23.2" barrel, with protected front blade, and tangent rear sights. muzzle break and bayonet lug. 10-rd box magazine. Thumb safety on triggerguard. Venezuelan crest on receiver. FN markings on right receiver. Belgium proofs. Action is crisp/tight. Bore is very good/bright with strong rifling. Blued metal finish is about 95%, with some minor scratches/rubs. Magazine has a little surface rust on the edges, might improve with cleaning, wood is overall good/sound with many dings/dents,The right side of the stock is marked with a circular cartouche that contains “FUERZAS ARMADAS / VENEZUELA”, (Armed Forces / Venezuela.) sling swivels, ribbed steel buttplate. Low serial number. No import marks. Manufactured 1949-61. Matching serial numbers.
