Lot 208 Savage Model 99 'RS' .300 Sav #345743

This Pre-War Savage 99 RS is an rarer model of the more common 99R. The RS means R model with Special Sights. (99R was drilled and tapped for a scope from the factory). The left receiver is drilled/tapped for side mounted optics. 1934 manufactured lever action rifle chambered for 300 Savage. Features blued finish with case color lever, 24" barrel, blade/bead front sight, adjustable rear sight folding leaf with V notch and white triangle for low light use. Correct Pre-War Marble's Automatic Flexible Joint Rear Sight with locking tab at the base of the pivot. Gladstone, Mich address and 1905 patent date. Lever latch doubles as safety, cocking indicator, brass cartridge counter, sling studs. Walnut checkered forend & curved wrist shoulder stock,vented Pachmayr recoil pad installed, grip cap. Bore is excellent/bright, wood is very good/sound with minor scratches/dings, lever action is smooth, blue is about 75% with muzzle/edge wear, handling wear on the bottom of receiver, bolt is bright and the lever retains traces of case color.
