Lot 200a Walther G.41 'ac 43' 8mm #7957

German WW2 semi-Automatic. 10-rd non- detachable box magazine. Gas-operated,gas trap/bolt short stroke piston action.21.5" barrel Hooded serrated ramp/blade, and tangent rear sights. Rear sight base machined for scope rails. Ultra rare and desirable Gewehr 41 WW2 rifle. Estimated production numbers vary, some up to 145,00, but it seems the accepted number by most collectors to be about 10,000. Used extensively on the Eastern front making their survival rate very low. This 1943 rifle was produced in its last year of production of the G41 before they were turned over fully to G43 production. Left side of receiver stamped with large "G.41 and smaller ac 43" with the serial number "7957" in the middle. Left front sight base stamped "7957" with correct Eagle/359 Walther waffenamt. Rear sight is stamped with one Eagle/359 waffenamt and matching serial number. Top of bolt carrier stamped with matching waffenamt and serial number. Rear receiver stamped "S" for the safety. Waffenamt Eagle/359, and "7957" stamped between the triggerguard and magazine, bottom of the magazine stamped "7957". Safety latch stamped with waffenamt Eagle/359. Cone shaped gas trap at the muzzle is stamped with matching waffenam and serial number. Stock stamped "7957" on the underside of stock between the buttplate and grip. Both barrel bands stamped "Eagle/359. Type 1 receiver, bolt, bolt carrier, gas cone, and action cover, internal parts that were mostly all machined. Correct wartime stamped triggerguard and box magazine. Stamped barrel bands, and stamped steel, cupped buttplate. Wood stock with black phenolic resin handguard, a bakelite type plastic. Bore is excellent/bright with strong rifling. All markings crisp and clear. Action is crisp/tight. Bolt handle has turned a brown patina from handling. Original blued finish has dulled somewhat about 85% with handling/edge wear, bolt carrier has a patch of very light pitting on the top. Wood is veru good with some minor dings/scratches, it has been varnished at some point. Handguard is very good. Buttplate is mostly a brown patina. Correct cleaning rod present. The safety is frozen and there is a screw missing between the magazine and triggerguard. No import marks.
