Lot 184a Webley R.I.C. .450 #31400

Webley R.I.C. .450 caliber D.A. revolver San Francisco dealer marked "N. Curry & Bro., San Francisco". This particular revolver was used in the iconic action film "The Wind and the Lion" starring Sean Connery. This exact pistol is prominently filmed in the scene of the raid on the English embassy where the Great Razooli abducts Mrs. Perdicaris. An embassy fellow dispatches a full cylinder of horsemen before being hacked down while reloading. Renickled to fine condition. Original tag #63 from the world famous Stembridge Gun Arsenal Collection is still attached and copy of 2007 catalog. Stembridge Arsenal rented guns to Golden Age through early 2000 Hollywood productions. This revolver was definitely used in many films before "The Wind and the Lion." Walter O'Connor who originally appraised and ID'd this and most other important guns in the Stembridge collection told Little John, his close friend, that he believed it was used in Sherlock Holmes films and by Sidney Greenstreet. However, Walter in the 70's did not have access to computers or have an archive of stills on this type of subject in which he had no interest. Research may further it's importance and value.
