US military semi-automatic rifle, manufactured circa 1944. The workhorse rifle of the US military in WWII and beyond. Features parkerized finish, wood stock & hand guards, 24" barrel, adjustable sights with protected front blade & protected rear peep, fixed magazine for en-bloc clip, manual safety. Trigger guard has stamped style trigger guard. Barrel marked "D6535448 2 53 8" with crossed cannons stamp. Bolt marked "D28287-17SA B4A". "SA" marked trigger housing. Bore is a bit dark with some remaining brightness and strong rifling. Various metal parts show different shades of parkerized finish, 90% coverage with edge losses and a few scrapes. The wood is very good condition with scratches and gouges. Includes proper type USGI green cotton web sling.
