Colt 1851 Navy with holster rig. Antique single action percussion revolver with .36 caliber bore, manufactured during the civil war in New York City, NY circa 1863. Features a 7.5" octagon barrel marked "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA", face of the cylinder stamped "M", left triggerguard stamped "2" & "36 CAL" and left frame stamped "Colt's". Dovetailed blade front sight, 'v' notch rear sight cut into the hammer lip, smooth thin trigger, knurled hammer spur, non-fluted six shot cylinder with roll stamped naval engagement scene, loading lever, brass grip frame with round triggerguard and one-piece walnut grip. Matching serial numbers are found on the barrel lug, wedge, cylinder pin, frame, cylinder, triggerguard and backstrap. Revolver displays an aged blued finish, about 65% with mottled light and dark tones, handling/edge wear, some scattered patina and light patches of pin-prick pitting, the cylinder shows some tooling marks. Action is sound, (One click) the bore is fair to good, bright with strong rifling, some scattered light pitting, markings are very good, the cylinder scene is approximately 90% intact, wood grip is good overall with a chip in the toe on each side and the brass has a nice mellow patina. The top of the wedge screw's top is broken. Included is a hand tooled period military 1851 holster modified to a "Slim Jim" style holster, stitching and plug intact, two rivet military belt loop, decorated with floral/scroll designs and a image of a flag with the "Southern Cross" like the Confederate flag without the stars. The leather belt is not period, newer manufacture and Civil War "Puppy Paw" brass oval "US" belt buckle, lead filled back with two studs and hook.
